The Old Malt Scoop Inn, Lapford, Devon.![]() In the centre of the village is the local pub. The Old Malt Scoop Inn is an old coaching inn dating back to the 16th century. The pub has fulfilled many roles over the years in addition to the traditional village pub. In the late 19th and early 20th century, it was also the local undertakers. The original laying out table is still in use in the kitchen bar today... although now it is used for laying out food and drinks rather than corpses! The pub has changed hands several times in recent years. The current incumbents Sean and Wendy have made a welcoming atmosphere and in the winter you can be sure of a roaring open fire. The locals are friendly. There is a varied selection of beers, lagers, ciders and spirits. There is a pool table, dart board and also a skittles alley.
