The Old Malt Scoop Inn, Lapford, Devon.![]() In the centre of the village is the local pub. The Old Malt Scoop Inn is an old coaching inn dating back to the 16th century. The pub has fulfilled many roles over the years in addition to the traditional village pub. In the late 19th and early 20th century, it was also the local undertakers. The original laying out table is still in use in the kitchen bar today... although now it is used for laying out drinks rather than corpses! The pub has changed hands several times in recent years and is now under new management once again in the form of Adrian and Julie with help from their two daughters. They have big plans for the pub: Guest ales are being trialled along side the usual beers and lagers; bar meals are back on the menu and there are plans to re-open the restaurant sometime in the near future... watch this space! Some things have not changed: Dogs and families are still welcome. We wish them the best of luck!
